A wet day at the airport
14 June 2013
Taken at the new Calcutta Airport Terminal 2 while waiting for the Jet shuttle to Delhi. It had rained heavily the day before and it was raining when I arrived at the airport.
This is an Air India aircraft being pushed back from the aerobridge for takeoff.

Quiet contemplation
Saturday morning 2 AM. A Buddhist monk sits quietly staring out at the Thai Airways flight that has just landed to travel back to Thailand among the cacophony of passengers at the new airport terminal at the Calcutta International Airport.

Lines in the sand
No, these are not the famed Nazca lines.
They are highways, snaking across the billiard board flat desert landscape of Saudi Arabia. More precisely, this is the connector that connects King Fahad International Airport, Dammam, with the main highway connecting Al-Jubail with Damman.

Dammam-Dubai-Kolkata
Some photos from my recent trip home. Cramped seats, lousy food and an excruciating six hour layover at Dubai airport summed up the flight home.

The Irish Pub @ Dubai Airport
A pub, a business class lounge and a smoking room - the three most important things!

Homeward Bound - Pictures from the aircraft and the airports
Homeward bound . . .
Cairo Airport . . . a quaint little airport
Smoking area and eating area are the same...no gas chambers . . . making it the most smoker friendly airport I've seen.
It just occurred that Egypt is mostly desert.
