Playing with backlighting

Work, gear and the economy, what I thought I knew... changes all the time. But there are a few things that remains and they include the pleasure of taking pictures with my favourite camera and lens combo.

Back-lit portrait | Nikon 18-200mm VR

Back-lit with the light streaming in from a large window. The light reflected off the bed-spread provides the softish light.

A blaze of violet

The rainy season has brought about a remarkable bloom of violet orchids at my friend's house at Bhawanipur, Calcutta.

The orchids are flecked with raindrops after the intermittent morning shower.

Critter Sunday | Experiments with the Micro Nikkor 60mm AFD

After quite some weeks, I took out the camera today to take some pictures of some flowers on the terrace. I spied this spider sitting on an okra plant and it took quite a while for Mr. Spider to move to a point, where I could reasonably focus and shoot off some shots.

Though he looks fearsome, he is only 1/2 an inch in length.

Shades of blue

A ferry ferries tourists and travelers across the wide expanse of the turquoise blue Chilka Lake. The sky is a different shade of blue. The remnants of an early morning mist blurs the horizon.
